Taco Gordo is putting down roots in the Old North End (see "South to the ONE"), but its former trucks won't lie idle. They're rolling again in Burlington as Carte Blanche, specializing in international street food. It's a business venture of Chris Donnelly and Mojo Hancy-Davis, who met when they worked as cooks at Misery Loves Co. in Winooski.

"We've both spent a lot of time in restaurants, and we wanted our own outlets," Donnelly said. "The freedom to move around with carts is great."

Carte Blanche can be found on the Church Street Marketplace in front of Outdoor Gear Exchange on Wednesdays and Thursdays, at ArtsRiot Truck Stop on Fridays, and at Foam Brewers on Saturdays. For the weekend gigs, Carte Blanche fires up a handmade charcoal grill and serves yakitori, or grilled meat on skewers (with veggie versions available). On Church Street, the lunch fare includes bánh mì, seasonal vegetable toast, arepa and brisket bibimbap.

"We can have fun and experiment," Donnelly said, adding that Carte Blanche's working tagline is "free-hand street food."
