QuantaSpec performs contract research and development for urgent national needs. Current research includes developing systems for standoff detection of explosives, chemicals, biological and radiological materials. Past research has included development of computer algorithms that automatically identify bacterial species from their infrared signatures, modeling and measurement of atmospheric transmission of laser light, and prototyping and demonstration of the remote sensing of explosive vapors, measurement of infrared/ultra-violet absorption of cockpit canopy materials. QuantaSpec is developing reagentless in vitro diagnostics for malaria and other diseases. The company is also developing advanced explosive detectors.
