Roger Napoleon Cadieux, a lifelong resident of this area and longtime dairy farmer passed away, Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the UVM Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 11, 1929, in Georgia, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Berthe (Viens) Cadieux. Roger was one of fifteen children. He was 87 years old.

Roger was a kind and honest man. He was a great listener, never let anyone feel unwelcome, and was well known for his great sense of humor. Throughout his life, he maintained a gentle and quiet demeanor that won the trust and the hearts of many.

Roger was a communicant of Holy Angel Parish, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus St. Albans Council 297, and a field agent for ASCS, but he most enjoyed being with his family at their summer residence on Georgia Shore. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, sugar making, and their trips to their winter home in Tamarac, Florida. He loved to throw parties and have a good time. He was a real storyteller and loved to share his memories with others.

Above all, Roger was a devoted husband, a great father, and an amazing grandfather to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He honored, respected, and loved his wife for 68 wonderful years. He exemplified the true meaning of love, commitment, and being a true partner. Through his life, he always leaned on his strong faith in God, and he believed in the beauty and the tranquility that would greet him after his passing. Roger will live on forever in our hearts and minds and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Carita, of Georgia; their children, son-in-law, Robert Weeks, Robert and Rachel Cadieux of Georgia, Ronald Cadieux and Karen Jarvis of Sheldon, Jacqueline and Wayne Waninski of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Peter Cadieux, Paul Cadieux, both of Georgia, Randall and Maggie Cadieux of Georgia, Judi French and Matt Nolin of Sheldon and Julie and Jeff Smialek of Wesley Chapel, Florida; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Peter LaForge, Saundra and Keven Badger, Krista Grady and Craig Parks, Carmen and Frank Wagner, Lianne and Matt Frechette, Gregory and Robin Cadieux, Scott and Heather Cadieux, Brad and Tania Cadieux, Nicole Cadieux and Brian Nickel, Brian Duchesneau, Tori and Leigh Lamphere, Christopher Cadieux, Jessica Cadieux, Heather and Dayton Brown, Jr., Brittany and Daren Rivard, Carita French, Olivia Smialek and Allison Smialek as well as twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Roger is also survived by his siblings, Angela Rock, Solange Bergeron, Marcel and Rose Cadieux, Simonne and Leo Martin, Richard and Kathy Cadieux, Lucille and Dana Ellis; brother-in-law, Roger Lebel; sisters-in-law, Betty Cadieux and Ginny Cadieux and many many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Weeks, who passed away on December 14, 2015, his grandson, Jonathan R. Weeks, and son-in-law, Michael Duchesneau; siblings, Joseph, Clement, Leon, Andrew, Rejeanne Lebel, Alice and her husband Joe Pisano, Berthe Puhalski, Florence and her husband Jean-Paul Bechard, and brothers-in-law, Arthur Rock and Larry Bergeron.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, July 31st, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 1st, at 11:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans. Interment will follow at the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
