David Michael Machia, age 56 years, passed peacefully Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2016, at his Morey Road residence with loving family at his side.

Born in St. Albans on, August 3, 1959, he was the son of William and Charlene (Danyow) Machia. He graduated from BFA-St. Albans and was married to Susan (Millett) who survives him.

David was a Licensed Master Electrician and was associated with Rock-Tenn of Sheldon Springs for 37 years. He loved his Harley Motorcycles and was a member of the Harley Owners Group. He was a generous man and supported many children’s charities and was well known for his beautiful vegetable gardens and sarcastic sense of humor.

In addition to his wife Susan; David leaves his parents, William and Charlene Machia of Sheldon; children, Nichole Jacobs and husband George IV of Richford, Jennifer Machia of Florida, Andrew Morris and Hannah of Sheldon, Tausha Simmons and husband Michael of Waterbury, David Garceau of Sheldon, Michelle Greenia and husband Jeremy of Highgate, Melissa Strickland and Dale Whitcomb of Swanton and Stacey Ferland and husband Michael of Berkshire; grandchildren, Hunter, Jordin, Jerrick, Kylah, Zoey, Rylynn, Jazmyn, Erik, Matthew, Gavin and Lexie; brothers and sisters, William Machia II and Judy of Sheldon, Donna Stevens and Jeff of Highgate, Marlene Machia and Rickie of Sheldon, Nancy Bertrand and Joseph of Highgate, Wanda Sloan and Eric of Highgate and Ronald Machia and Cheryl of Sheldon; special friends, Alan Levick, Monty Vachon, George Jacobs III and David Barnum as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. from Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church, 186 Lamkin St., Highgate Center. Father Luke P. Austin will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Machia family lot in St. Louis Cemetery.

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Father Austin will conduct a Vigil Service at 7:45 p.m. and remain after for The Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Gifts in memory of David may be made to the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital, 111 Colchester Ave., Main Campus, Burlington 05401.
