State of the Arts: Art Council Auction, Operatic Delights

This is your last chance to pick up some Vermont-made artwork in the Vermont Art Council’s online auction to benefit the Vermont Food Bank. More than 70 artists and organizations have chipped in; poet Verandah Porche contributed the tongue-in-cheek line, “I’m glad that starving artists can help feed the people.” Preview the auction items at The auction closes at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 4 . . . Also on Thursday, at 3:30 p.m., the University of Vermont Music and Humanities Series launches with “An Afternoon of Operatic Delights,” featuring soprano Shyla Nelson, tenor John Tiranno and organist Paul Orgel.
