In 2013, hemp cultivation and production was authorized in Vermont. Now, says Heady Vermont editor Eli Harrington in a press release, “the hemp industry is exploding, and we think that there’s a great opportunity for our Vermont working landscapes and their farmers.” This weekend, those interested in agricultural hemp can connect and learn at Heady Vermont’s first annual Vermont Hemp Fest. Be they farmers, artisans or investors, attendees experience exhibitor displays, a pitch competition and panel sessions covering everything from planting and harvesting to business development to the benefits of cannabidiol, or CBD. Lunchtime yoga, evening music by the Mangroves and a keynote address by Growing Warriors founder Michael Lewis cap off this agricultural affair.
