When: Sat., June 4, 8 p.m. 2016
Valerie June refers to her style as “organic moonshine roots music.” That’s about as apt a description of the Tennessee-born songwriter’s soulful blend of folk, blues, gospel and country as you’ll find. Her 2013 breakout album, the Dan Auerbach-produced Pushin’ Against a Stone, was a critical darling, scoring praise far and wide. That includes Rolling Stone, which wrote that her music is “rich with emotion and well-earned honesty.” June plays the Higher Ground Ballroom in South Burlington on Saturday, June 4, with songwriter Anthony D’Amato.
Price: $18/20. AA
