Trixie Whitley, Michael Chorney Trio, Amelia Devoid

When: Sat., Sept. 24, 8:30 p.m. 2016

Trixie Whitley, daughter of the late multi-genre guitarist Chris Whitley, makes full-force, sultry alt-pop with a bad case of the blues. In 2015, nearly a quarter century after her father’s minor hit “Big Sky Country,” Whitley released her second full-length album, Porta Bohemica. Though her tracks are mostly guitar driven, she’s just as comfortable pouring her heart out to piano accompaniment. Her style is melancholy, slightly gritty and lives in the company of Clare Maguire, Joan as Police Woman and Annie Lennox. Trixie Whitley performs on Saturday, September 24, at Signal Kitchen in Burlington. Locals Michael Chorney Trio and Amelia Devoid open.
