Timber Timbre seem to look back fondly on the evolution of popular music throughout the mid-20th century. The Canadian trio’s early work recalls golden-era rock and roll, the kind of doo-wop and rockabilly tunes heard blaring from the jukebox at the local malt shop. But the group passes its influences through a stark, modern filter, distilling the essence of retro-pop and coating it with contemporary detachment and malaise. The band similarly deconstructs ’70s funk and disco on its latest effort, 2017’s Sincerely, Future Pollution. Catch Timber Timbre on Wednesday, October 17, at ArtsRiot in Burlington.
