twelvefour, the new record from Melbourne’s the Paper Kites, is a concept album based on the idea that an artist’s most fertile creative time is between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m. Fittingly, the record exudes a lulling, half-awake feel, with dreamy, swirling melodies and bleary-eyed lyricism, all woven together with the aid of acclaimed producer Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, the Shins.) The Paper Kites play the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington — at a reasonable hour — this Tuesday, July 19, with Atlanta’s Larkin Poe.
Price: $15/18. AA
