"Summer's Bounty" Vegetable Photography Show

When: Thu., July 10, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. 2014

Amalia Elena Veralli & Anne-Marie Littenberg Two Vermont photographers share captures of common vegetables, taking the details that we see every day and magnify features in an astounding way. Printed on high-gloss aluminum, the vegetables take on a three-dimensional appearance. For both artists, photography did not start as their primary creative media. Amalia Elena Veralli is an award-winning photographer from Warren, Vermont. She came to fine art photography after owning & operating a pottery studio for 30 years. Although today her primary subjects are flowers (she’s been dubbed “the Georgia O'Keeffe of flower photography”), she also calls attention to the same fine detail of produce with her lens. Amalia's work can also be seen in some more famous venues, including the hospitality suites at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. Anne-Marie Littenberg is a Burlington-based artist whose venture into photography began as an part of her work as a fiber artist. The author of two books and numerous articles regarding the traditional craft of rug hooking, Anne-Marie took up the camera in order to photograph the textiles which are the subject of her writing. She also uses the camera as a tool to help in designing and evaluating her own work as a rug hooker. In the process, she became intrigued by the way the camera helps the viewer see extreme beauty in the mundane. Enjoy the Rustic Roots’ “Summer’s Bounty” photography show through August 31st.
