Sinkane, the High Breaks, DJ Disco Phantom

When: Sat., Dec. 31, 9 p.m. 2016

What do you get when you combine Krautrock, classic funk, heavy synth and world music influences? You get Sinkane, Brooklyn-based musician Ahmed Gallab’s irrepressible funk machine. Gallab was born in Sudan, but he and his parents were forced to flee the country’s unstable political climate in the late 1980s. After growing up in Columbus, Ohio’s DIY hardcore scene, he became a highly sought-after session musician, recording with indie superstars such as Caribou, Yeasayer and Eleanor Friedberger. In 2016, Sinkane released “U'Huh,” the irresistible lead single from his forthcoming album, Life & Livin’ It. Ring in the new year with Sinkane on Saturday, December 31, at ArtsRiot in Burlington. Locals the High Breaks and DJ Disco Phantom add support.

Price: $30/35
