4/25/15: Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller Rogen returned to Burlington on Saturday to represent Hilarity for Charity, a non-profit they started in 2011 to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Both actors have deeply personal ties to this disease, Lauren Miller Rogen’s mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 55.
Last year the Rogens started HFC U, a fundraising contest involving college students which raised $130,000 in 2014. UVM’s Pi Kappa Alpha was the top fundraiser with $27,000 and earned a visit from Rogen and his wife as well as a screening of Neighbors.
This year the brothers teamed up with UVM sorority Alpha Chi Omega to raise more than $30,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association and scoring another visit from the Rogens.
Fraternity brothers John, Ryan and Griffen Fox lost their grandfather to Alzheimer’s last year. This was the inspiration for Pi Kappa Alpha’s vigorous fundraising efforts which included a talent show in 2014 and a cookie drive in 2015. The Fox triplets, their mom and grandmother were on hand to meet the actors and share their personal story with Alzheimer’s.
In addition to a selfie heavy meet and greet, Rogen and actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse (AKA McLovin) treated the students to a screening of Superbad with live commentary.
