When: Wed., Sept. 6, 6-9 p.m. 2017
Headlamps, string lights and moonbeams illuminate the route on the second annual River of Light: Harvest Moon Paddle on the Winooski River. Aquatic adventurers put their canoes, kayaks and standup paddleboards — outfitted with themed lighting schemes — into the water at the Heineberg Bridge River Access in Colchester, guided by Friends of the Winooski River. From there, the lunar-lit flotilla travels 2.5 miles to Lake Champlain, where views of the harvest moon herald the upcoming autumnal equinox. If the award-winning 2016 episode of Stuck in Vermont about the inaugural outing is any indicator, some howling might be in store.
