Ralph White

When: Thu., May 11, 9:30 p.m. 2017

Ralph White was a founding member of 1990s Austin icons Bad Livers, a pioneering trio whose unclassifiable fusion of old-time, bluegrass and punk paved the way for a generation of provocative twang. The accordionist and banjo player left that group in 1996 and forged a globe-trotting solo career that’s equally indefinable — though we rather like Austin-American Statesman scribe Joe Ross’ take: “folk/noise/avant-whatever genius.” White’s latest release, Farewell to Texas, is a sparse, fiddle-heavy collection of instrumentals that naturally bucks easy description. Catch White on Thursday, May 11, at the Light Club Lamp Shop in Burlington.
