- Sandra Marie Aylward
Sandra Marie Aylward, age 60 years, lost her battle with cancer Tuesday morning May 14, 2013, at her Pion Road residence with loving family at her side.
Born on April 11, 1953, she was the daughter of Homer Paradis and the late June (Dew) Paradis. She graduated in 1971 from Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans and on August 5, 1972, married the love of her life, Lester Aylward. They made their home in Fairfield with their three children.
Sandy will be most remembered for her establishment of "Sandy's Quik Stop" where she loved working and serving the public for 21 years. After closing the store she became associated with Vicki Isham at Howard's The Flower Shop. Several of her hobbies included cooking, entertaining family and friends, knitting, craft shows, bowling, traveling, and spending time with family. Sandy will always be remembered for her big heart and being there for anyone in need. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Parish and for the past 11 years very active in the Franklin County Relay for Life Cancer Walk.
In addition to her husband Lester of 41 years, Sandy leaves her children, Stacey Remillard (Kris) of Fairfield, Tiffany Hughes (Joseph) of Mesa, AZ and Adam Aylward (Alissa) of St. Albans; grandchildren, Devin, Jade and McKenna Remillard, Chase, Graham, Calvin, Kennedy and Brady Hughes, Arika and Alivia Aylward; Her father, Homer Paradis of St. Albans Bay; mother-in-law, Theresa Aylward of Fairfax; siblings, Rita Langlais, Larry Paradis, Mike Paradis, Debbie Begnoche and Glenn Paradis. Also surviving are several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sandy was predeceased by her mother June (Dew) Paradis and father-in-law, Arthur Aylward.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 116 Church St., Fairfield Center. Father William P. Giroux will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at a later date in the Soule Cemetery, Fairfield.
Friends' may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
