Obituary: Kathleen Ann Tougas

Kathleen Ann Tougas, age 50 years, died early Wednesday morning, January 13, 2016 in The University of Vermont Medical Center with her loving husband Marcel by her side.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on, February 2, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Carol Ann (Weber) and John Leo Higbie. She attended Unatego Junior and Senior High School and later graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology. Beginning in 1990 and until illness forced her retirement Kathleen had been employed with Wyeth Nutritionals.

Kathleen’s Roman Catholic faith was most important to her. She was a devoted and faithful parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Saint Louis Parish, attended Mass daily and had volunteered in the Nativity Religious Education First Communion Program.

She was a faithful and devoted wife to Marcel Tougas who survives her. She also leaves her children, Alexander Paul Dion and Caitlin Mackenzie Dion; a sister, Mary Higbie Carabeau; niece, Elena Maeve Carabeau; her grandmother, Verna Higbie and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her.

At Kathleen’s request there will be no public calling hours.

A Traditional Roman Catholic Latin Requiem Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Brian J. O’Donnell, parochial vicar of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral in Burlington will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Gifts in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans 05478.
