Georgieanna (Wagner) Arms, 87 of Randolph, Vermont passed away peacefully in the loving comfort of her family on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Georgianna was born in Oak Park, IL on November 26, 1925, the daughter of the late George and Lucille (Walsh) Wagner. She was very adventurous as a child she enjoyed travelling on her own at a very young age, taking long train rides to visit family and friends. She enjoyed trips to Chicago, riding the L for shopping sprees with her mother. One of her greatest passions as a child was dance she became an accomplished ballet dancer. During the war years she was a factory worker. Georgie attended Michigan State University where she completed her bachelors degree. While at Michigan State, she met the love of her life, Dr. Robert Chadwick Arms. Georgianna and Bob were married on October 11, 1947 in her home town of Oak Park, Illinois. Shortly after marrying, Georgie and Bob moved to Randolph, Vermont where they settled into the rhythm of life, starting a family and running their business the Randolph Animal Hospital. Bob was the local veterinarian and Georgie supported the business as the office manager and book-keeper. Georgie was quite social enjoying the company of friends and family. In her later years she found enjoyment doing her daily pool exercises at VTC, taking pleasure in the physical activity but mostly good laughs and social times with the girls. Georgie was an amazing cook. She loved trying new recipes and sharing good food and good cocktails with her family and friends. She was a voracious reader, reading anything and everything that she could get her hands on from the Harry Potter series, to new cookbooks and the bible. Over the years she developed a very close relationship with Barbara Arms updating each other on family events with their weekly Sunday morning calls. She loved hosting family gatherings at her home in Randolph at any time but especially during the holidays. She loved the many reunion trips with family at the Cape and in Rockport, MA being porch potatoes and enjoying a variety of other vacation activities.
Georgianna was predeceased by her husband Dr. Robert Chadwick Arms on July 14, 2001. She is survived by her sons Robert, Richard and Ronald Arms and their families. She has five grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.
Georgie was an amazing strong woman, a loving mother, wife and friend. We will miss her strength, her courage and her level-headed guidance but her passion and love of family will live on in the lives of those she touched most. We will carry her strength and her spirit with us always and ensure that her legacy of love continues on.
Visiting hours will be held at Day Funeral Home, 4 Franklin St. Randolph, Vermont on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 6:00 7:00 PM with a memorial service at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Lakeview Cemetery, Burlington, Vermont.
