Obituary: Brenda Starr Leahy

Brenda Starr Leahy, 59, a native of Swanton, a resident of Florida for many years and most recently of Alabama, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at a hospice center in Panama City, FL, following a lingering illness.

Born in St. Albans, September 14, 1954, the daughter of Wesley Parizo and Marjorie Lucille Lafountain, Brenda attended schools in Swanton including St. Anne’s Academy, Swanton High School and Missisquoi Valley Union High School. After moving to Florida, she and her late husband, William Leahy owned and operated Nutmeg Janitorial, providing maintenance and cleaning services. She was a member of VFW Posts in Swanton and in Florida and of the American Legion in Florida. Brenda enjoyed cooking, camping, playing horseshoes, football and spending time with her family.

In addition to her mother Marjorie of Swanton and her father, Wesley, Brenda is survived by her son, Christopher William Leahy and his wife, Jaime of Melbourne, FL, her daughter, Stacy Lynn Leahy of Portland, ME, her grandchildren; Lacie, Taylor, Abigail, Andrew and Dustin, a great-grandson, Cole, her siblings; Wayne Parizo and Serena Domina of Highgate Springs, Lisa Gratton and husband Roy of Swanton, Kelly Bettis and Christina St. Pierre of Crown Point , NY and Michelle Dufresne and husband Critter of Swanton and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Brenda was predeceased by grandparents, Lucille and Duncan Campbell Sr. and by brothers, James and Richard Campbell.

Funeral and interment services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
