When: Wed., Sept. 21, 7 p.m. 2016

After gaining legendary status behind the scenes of shows such as “All in the Family,” “Good Times” and “The Jeffersons,” media man Norman Lear comes into focus in the new documentary Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You. As a creator, writer and producer, Lear kept 1970s primetime television current, using comedy to advance the national dialogue on topics such as race, class and feminism. Through archival footage, interviews and commentary by the likes of Rob Reiner and Amy Poehler, Academy Award-winning filmmakers Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady paint a vibrant portrait of one of television’s groundbreaking figures. A Skype conversation with Lear follows a screening at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater.
