What’s the deal with Vermont musicians who rise to fame while completely bypassing the local scene? How do these big fish do it without making so much as a splash in the little pond? Hip-hop sensation nothing, nowhere did it, and now folk-rocker Noah Kahan is blowing up — though it’s easy to see why. The 21-year-old Strafford native’s blend of acoustic rock and sleek electronic production is bold, intense and rife with commercial appeal. It’s like Ed Sheeran and Vance Joy had a baby and dropped him off in the Green Mountains. Kahan performs on Saturday, October 13, at the Higher Ground Ballroom in South Burlington. Dean Lewis opens.
