When: Tue., July 25, 8 p.m.
Pop R&B reached its pinnacle in the ’90s, and Nite Jewel’s Ramona Gonzalez is a fan. She claims artists such as Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey as main influences for her nuanced take on smooth jams and danceable grooves. Others come to mind, as well, such as Aaliyah, Robyn and Faith Evans. She’s also known for collaborations with numerous critical darlings. There’s Nite Jewlia, a dreamy one-off with singer-songwriter Julia Holter, as well as Nite-Funk, a synth-tacular partnership with producer/neo-funk artist Dâm-Funk. Check out Nite Jewel on Tuesday, July 25, at ArtsRiot in Burlington. Geneva Jacuzzi and Harriet Brown open.
