'Navigating Memory: Exploring Place'

When: Jan. 22-April 9 2016

“Attached to my very bones is my international baggage, most of which is carry-on,” writes Aqsa Shakil, who was born in Tanzania, grew up in Pakistan and now lives in San Francisco. Her work is included with that of artists Nurjahan Akhlaq and Seher Shah, both born in Pakistan, in one of the three new exhibitions opening this week at BCA Center. As the title suggests, the common thread weaving through their work is a contemplation of how experience, both personal and more broadly, intersects with landscape and contributes to the formation of historical narrative.
