Mmm, lunch. While Restaurant Week has us thinking about languorous dinners, we'll still be spicing up the workday with delicious midday morsels. Luckily for us, a handful of eateries are offering lunch deals, including some delectable sandwiches.
At August First Bakery, fresh loaves emerge hot and crusty every morning — as do a new bakery creation, rosemary rolls. For their $10 Restaurant Week lunch deal, they'll pour you a cup of soup du jour, then follow it with any sandwich on a rosemary roll, from their famous BLT to turkey, ham, curried chicken, salmon or tofu salads. The sweet finish is a chewy double-ginger cookie. We might need a shot of espresso to go with that.
City Market will roll out a unique Restaurant Week creation: the "Spicy Spring Sandwich." They'll smear toasted sourdough bread with spicy pepper relish mayonnaise and hummus, then top it with salami, provolone cheese, tomato, and banana peppers. Ka-pow! (Vegetarians can leave off the meat.) A half-sandwich is $5.99 and a full order is $7.99.
