Chef Michel Mahe has three restaurants, all serving $25 prix-fixe menus for Vermont Restaurant Week. We've already written about the Bearded Frog in Shelburne, but today it added a vegan menu item: Rosemary-balsamic-marinated fried tofu.
Further south, in Vergennes, the Black Sheep Bistro is more focused on meat and fish dishes. Start the meal with lamb dumplings or tuna tartare, then sup on duck confit or pork with brandy-fruit compôte. As always, all entrées come with a cone of bistro-licious French fries with house aioli and ketchup and creamy, garlicky mashed potatoes.
Bristol's Bobcat Café and Brewery features elevated versions of hearty pub fare. Lamb stew and savory blue cheese soufflé are among the starters. After local venison-and-chorizo meatloaf, why not dig into warm, homemade gingerbread with cranberry jam and candied orange?
