Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration: My Brother's Keeper

When: Mon., Jan. 16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 2017

Last year, the City of Burlington accepted President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Challenge aimed at addressing opportunity gaps among America’s youth. Now, area kids are recognized for their leadership in the program at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration. Focused on service and reflection, this annual affair features a full schedule of events for adults and youngsters alike. Spoken-word performances by Rajnii Eddins and Muslim Girls Making Change, drumming by Africa Jamono, dance, educational presentations, a panel discussion and remarks by Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger make the holiday “a day on, not a day off.”

Price: Free.
