Burlington City Arts curates exhibits in three areas of the airport: the Skyway, the area above the escalator and the walls facing security for Gates 1 through 8. Whether you've arrived early for a flight or are waiting to pick up passengers, do take the time to look around!

Through late January, the Skyway features vibrant oil paintings by Kimberly Bombard. Of her preferred medium, the artist writes in a statement, "I love its slipperiness and tactile texture. I love delicately smoothing oranges, yellows and light blues around on a canvas." Works such as "Floral Fusion" pop off the canvas with warm, saturated hues rendered in bold brushstrokes.

Though her botanical works are still life, "Flowers, to me, are the opposite of still, growing and dying in a short time frame," writes Bombard. "They are perfect symbols for life, death, love and beauty. My brushstrokes are layered with my own internal emotions depicting how I feel when I paint the stroke. Whether it's happiness, sorrow, satisfaction or love, it's all in the strokes."
The artist is a second-generation Vermonter; her mother immigrated to Burlington from Ireland 75 years ago. Bombard's sense of home has had an impact on her work, she tells BTV: "As an artist, there is so much to influence and inspire me, just in the natural beauty alone, but also the creative people that make up this great city and state ... Vermont cultivates and inspires me, and I hope you can see that in my art."
