Much like Bostonian colleagues Tall Heights, indie-folk quartet Darlingside of Cambridge, Mass., meld sleek, urban edge with bucolic, traditional influences. High-minded metaphysical concepts permeate their latest album, Extralife. An airy blend of guitar, mandolin, banjo, violin, cello, guitar and bass grounds the LP’s existential themes. Emotional resonance and ponderous lyrics combine to create a flawless fusion of head and heart. Largely known for its vocal prowess, the group’s exquisite multipart harmonies ebb and flow with ease. Darlingside perform on Friday, December 7, at the Higher Ground Ballroom in South Burlington. Local singer-songwriter Henry Jamison opens.
