Dorothy Schnure, Green Mountain Power — Officially, they go by “corporate spokesperson,” “director of communications” or, if they’re cops or soldiers, “public information officer.” Journalists call them by one name: flack. It’s what they get when events go awry for their organization — and what they give reporters if we flub a story about them. Vermont’s press corps is blessed with many top-notch flacks, but few are as sharp as 33-year Green Mountain Power veteran “Dotty” Schnure, who knows Vermont’s largest utility inside and out. It’s a wonder no one’s photographed her chain-sawing trees and reconnecting downed power lines after a major storm.
