TAKE A SEAT

Step inside the exposed-brick and steel-pillared environs of the Burlington Furniture Company, and the first thing you notice is the rich smell of leather. That’s apropos, since any visit to the store — formerly called the Burlington Futon Company — is a sensory orgy: There are plush couches to wallow in, suede pillows to stroke, polished teak and bamboo dining-room tables that practically beg fingers to caress them. Little wonder that readers chose BFC as their first pick for fine furnishings. Recently the store expanded into the space previously occupied by Light-Works. With its showroom nearly doubled in size, there’s even more space for leather ottomans, art deco lamps and other sleek, modern décor. One special piece is a red Fiberglas and faux-suede swivel chair. Hey, does Dr. Evil shop here?
