UP AGAINST THE WALLS
There’s more than petroglyphs on the walls of Petra Cliffs. With 23 top rope stations, access to 40 routes ranging from beginner to advanced, and a second-floor bouldering cave, the Burlington biz has a firm hold on the Vermont climbing community. In addition to its mountaineering school and summer camps, Petra also manages the Bolton Adventure Center. Owner Mike Anderson and his staff of trained monitors, instructors and guides do everything from showing you the ropes indoors to assisting your ascent up a gnarly Vermont rock face. Area climbers flock to Petra during the winter months and rainy summer days to train. No wonder readers pushed this adventure center to the top.
