As summer enters its home stretch, agricultural fairs begin to crop up across the state. Tuesday signals the start of the yearly Addison County Fair & Field Days. This large-scale exhibition showcases homegrown products and offers plenty of good old-fashioned fun. Animal lovers ooh and aah over the children’s barnyard, horse and donkey shows; sheep-shearing demonstrations; ox pulling; and live species presentations by Wildlife Encounters. Mechanically minded folks get in gear for antique equipment demos, a hand-mowing contest and high-octane demolition derbies. Rides, midway games, live entertainment and classes fill out the five-day program.
Price: $5-45; free for kids 5 and under; $12-20 for unlimited ride bracelets.
