No musical style exists on an island. Not even island music. Whether ska or soca or innumerable other genres in between, it’s all connected. In the steamy realm of Cuban music, few navigate the bridges between genres quite so brilliantly as Brooklyn’s Ola Fresca. Under the direction of bandleader Jose Conde, for more than a decade the ensemble has explored the colorful, groovy nexus where Cuban son, Nuyurican salsa, timba and even funk intersect. This Saturday, September 3, Ola Fresca play a show appropriately dubbed A Bridge to Havana at ArtsRiot in Burlington, with DJ Bongohead.
Price: $10/15. AA
