Creek Farm Town Center
FIXER UPPER
Some readers might recommend a more visible community eyesore, such as the Kmart plaza in South Burlington, with its Volkswagen-sized potholes, free-for-all driving patterns and perennially vacant retail space. But when it comes to depressing commercial real estate, it’s hard to find a sadder strip mall than the Creek Farm Center.
Never been there? What a shocker. This lonely outpost of asphalt and tumbleweed is set back from the corner of Creek Farm Road and Route 2/7 in north Colchester, within spitting distance of the Spanked Puppy bar. Its anchor store, if you can call it that, is the Dollar General, sandwiched between the Bingo Palace and the InPark Mobile Homes sales office and surrounded by 3000 square feet of Nobody’s Home.
Nothing against Gadue’s Dry Cleaning or the Daybreak Community Church, which probably keep the parking lot plowed all winter, but this center is howling for a makeover. Perhaps it’s time for a new reality TV show: “Pimp This Plaza!”
