Things keep looking bright for the music documentary A Band Called Death, directed by Vermonters Mark Covino and Jeff Howlett. Last summer, its premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival drew national attention. In October, a screening during the Vermont International Film Festival sold out. Now the story of a pioneering punk band formed by three Detroit brothers will show up at one of the year’s most anticipated cultural events, the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, as part of a program of music flicks called 24 Beats Per Second. No date has been scheduled yet, but the film portion of the fest starts on March 8.
