As we all do our part to fight the COVID-19 pandemic by practicing social distancing, it’s important to not forget any other medical needs that you may have. Don’t deprioritize your health. Whether it be an illness, injury, or ongoing medical condition that needs attention, know that the emergency departments and urgent, specialty and primary care practices across the UVM Health Network are able to provide the care you may need.

What You Need to Know:

  • Slow the Spread: Staying home helps slow the spread of the virus. This protects our community and reduces the burden on health care providers.
  • Remember to Social Distance: If you are outside of your home, keep a distance of at least 6 feet from any other people. If you have a cough, wear a mask to protect others.
  • Remember Hand Hygiene: Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If you can’t wash your hands use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. And keep your hands away from your face.
  • If You Feel Sick: Unless it is an emergency, if you feel sick or have mild COVID-19 symptoms, please stay at home and contact your doctor by phone or through MyChart. If you have COVID-19 symptoms that are not severe, stay at home and self-isolate.
  • Your Healthcare Providers Are There For You: If you need care, the emergency departments and urgent, specialty and primary care offices of the UVM Health Network are ready to assist you. Video visits, telephone visits and, in some cases, in-person visits can be arranged. Contact your doctor by phone or through MyChart to determine the best option for your needs. As always, if you have a life-threatening situation, call 9-1-1.

You can access providers through:

  • Video
  • Telephone
  • In-person visits in some cases

Just reach out to your healthcare provider to determine together the best way to address your needs.

If you are healthy, it’s also important to prioritize your wellbeing, especially during stressful times. You’re able to conduct regular wellness visits with the help of technology, so please contact your provider to see if a video appointment is right for you.

If it’s decided that an in-person visit would be best, please be assured that all UVM Health Network facilities are taking the utmost precautions to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure to patients and staff. Health screenings are conducted at the entrances, so that anyone with respiratory complaints can be routed safely to care. Patient waiting areas also allow for proper social distancing and the use of personal protective equipment, such as masks, which are available when needed.

No matter what your healthcare needs may be, UVM Health Network is there for you.
