Steven Wayne Thompson, age 62 years, a lifelong resident of the Swanton community died Sunday July 13, 2014, at his Lasnier Road residence.
Born in St. Albans on December 29, 1951, he was the son of William Lee Sr., and Lorraine Elsie (Deso) Thompson. He graduated in 1970 from Swanton High School and on March 25, 1972, was married to the former Elaine Shover who survives him.
For over 25 years Steven had been employed as a manufacturing manager at Mylan Technologies. In earlier years he had worked for Fonda Container.
As an avid runner he was very proud of having run in the 1985 Boston Marathon. He also participated in the Vermont Golden Gloves and was an avid hunter and ice fisherman. He loved music playing the drums and keyboard, had a great sense of humor and was well known for his many building projects.
Besides his wife Elaine of Swanton, Steven leaves three daughters, Annette Triner and her husband David of Cranford, NJ, Natalie Thompson-Lloyd and husband Matthew of St. Albans and Stephanie Peabody and husband Michael of Plainfield, VT; three grandchildren who were his pride and joy, and one soon to be born, William Triner, Ozias Peabody and Corliss Lloyd; his mother and father, William Sr., and Lorraine Thompson of Swanton; father-in-law and very special friend, Gilbert Shover of Swanton; seven brothers and sisters, and their spouses, Richard and Sandra Thompson of Swanton, James Sam and Maryann Thompson of Fairfax, David and Celine Thompson of St. Albans, Gary Gub and Arlene Thompson of Swanton, Ruthie and Allan Laroche of Swanton, Sandra and Warren Giroux of Swanton and William Jr. Turk and Claire Thompson also of Swanton. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Jackie Desmarais and husband Richard of Berkshire; brother-in-law, Alan Shover and his wife Linda of Gainesville, FL as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Steven was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Shirley Shover; sister-in-law, Carole Johnson and two very good friends, Michael Richards and Keith Cooper.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday July 17, 2014, at 10 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Interment will follow in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
