Palma M. Parent, 86, a long time Richmond resident, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at UVMC in Burlington.

Palma was born in St. Albans on August 26, 1929, and was a graduate of BFA-St. Albans, Class of 1947. On September 11, 1947, she married Alexis J. “Bill” Parent, Jr. in St. Albans. For many years, Palma was the book keeper for their family business, The Richmond Garage.

Palma was a member of the Richmond Congregational Church and Hale & Hearty Senior Group. She was Past Worthy Matron of Friendship Chapter 62 OES and volunteered at Richmond’s Miscellany Mart and Food Shelf for many years.

Palma leaves her husband of 68 years, Alexis J. “Bill” Parent, Jr. of Richmond, her two sons and their spouses, Michael & Maureen Parent of Richmond and David & Phyllis Parent of Pottstown, PA and her daughter, Linda Marie Parent of Richmond, her grandchildren, Mary Parent & husband Ben Copans of St. Johnsbury, Lauren Parent and husband Trevor Healy of MA and Samantha Parent of Richmond, her great grandchildren, Riley & Jonah Copans and Asa Healy, her daughter-in-law, Betty Parent of Hinesburg and a cousin, Sandra McMahon of TN.

Palma was preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Parent in 2005 and a grandson, William “Bill” Barber in 2002

Visiting hours will be Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 3-5 PM in the Richmond Congregational Church, 20 Church St., Richmond, where Funeral Services will take place on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Katelyn Macrae, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Richmond.
