Madeleine Andrea Rainville, age 84, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the Homestead Pillsbury Senior Community in St. Albans, VT, with her family at her side.
She was born on March 16, 1931, in Franklin, VT the daughter of the late Henri and Nellie (Monfette) Bouchard.
Madeleine attended schools in Franklin and Canada. She married Norbert Rainville on May 26, 1951, and made their home in Highgate where they worked the farm and raised their family. She was a member of St. Louis Parish, the Ladies of Saint Anne and the Homemakers Home Dem.
Madeleine was a great cook and baker. She enjoyed gardening, berry picking, freezing and canning her produce. She sewed, mended, crocheted, knitted and read many nonfiction books. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and ballroom dancing with Norbert. She most enjoyed the family gatherings throughout the years. She was a most loving and selfless model for her entire family for which she had great pride.
She is survived by her children, Donald Rainville and his wife Bonnie of Franklin, Marguerite Noel and her husband Richard of Highgate, Robert Rainville and his wife Denise of North Clarendon, Charles Rainville and his wife Cindy of South Burlington and Henry Rainville and his wife Kelly of Highgate; her grandchildren, Justin Rainville and his wife Sara, Jamie Rainville, Eric Noel and his wife Hannah, Sarah Larose, Norbert Noel and his wife Sharon, Amanda Anderson and her husband Timothy, Emily Gage and her husband James, Andrea Carpenter and her husband Ryan, Ryan Rainville, Joel Rainville, Kyle Rainville, Devin Rainville and his wife Ashley, Ian Rainville and Dylan Rainville; her great grandchildren, Brooke and Emma Rainville, Madeleine and Calvin Noel, Adeleine Larose, Bailey, Jake and Hunter Noel, Wyatt and Calleigh Anderson, Shannon, Lindsay and Audrey Gage and Paul Carpenter; one sister, Ryta Bouchard-Grenier of Brossard, Quebec; her sisters-in-law, Aline Bouchard of Franklin, Marie Jeanne Benoit of Sheldon, Monique Rainville of Franklin and Theresa Begnoche and her husband Marcel of Highgate; her brother-in-law, Joachim Rainville and his wife Lorraine of Highgate and her brother-in-law, Andre Laroche of Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
Madeleine was predeceased by her husband, Norbert; her parents Henri and Nellie Bouchard; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mae and Henry Rainville; her sisters, Marie Paule Roy and husband Raymond, Therese Pierce and husband Philip and Marguerite Bouchard; her brothers, Paul Bouchard and wife Cecile and Philip Bouchard; her sisters-in-law, Bernadette Tremblay and her husband Hector and Mae Anne Laroche and her brothers-in-law, Lucien Rainville and Marcel Benoit.
Madeleines family would like to thank Uncle Joe and Aunt Lorraine Rainville for all of their support and companionship. Also the staff of the Franklin Carriage House and Jeanne Rainville her caregiver there where she lived for two years, the staff of the Northwestern Medical Center where she received great care, Franklin County Home Health Agency, Homestead Pillsbury where she spent the last five months in the most caring environment from all the staff members and Bayada Hospice for their special care and compassion.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, 186 Lamkin St. Highgate Center. Fr. Marcel R. Rainville, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Rainville family lot in Saint Louis Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
