Lucille P. “Lou” Pelkey, 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, and husband, Francis C. Pelkey, 83, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015, both with family at their side.

She was born in Fairfax, on February 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Francis W. and Edith (Hoague) Watts. He was born in St. Albans Town, August 16, 1932, a son of the late Walter L Pelkey, Sr. and Alberta (Sweeney) Pelkey. They were married on February 14, 1999.

Lou was employed for many years with State of Vermont as a counselor with the developmentally challenged. Francis retired in 1994 from Champlain Cable in Winooski and more recently was employed at Hannaford’s in the Highgate Commons Shopping Center. They were both members of Holy Angels Catholic Parish and Robert E. Glidden Post 758 VFW Women’s and Men’s Auxiliaries. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, Women of the Moose, Chapter 321, Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, and the Northwestern Medical Center Auxiliary. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 297 and enjoyed fishing and hunting. They both enjoyed the company of their feline friend, “Simba” and their canine companion “Brandy” until her passing.

Survivors include her four sons: David J. Gagne of Swanton, Roger L. Gagne of Arizona, Michael A. Gagne and his wife, Jeri, of California and Paul E. Gagne and his wife, Kathy, of Randolph; her three sisters; Terry Elwood of Swanton, Betty Ann Blodgett of Swanton and Gloria Donaghy and her husband, John, of Hardwick; her brother, Peter Ashline of Burlington, 11 grandchildren; Michelle, Karen, Emmanuel, Rachel, Christina, April, Tiffany, Michael, Nicholas, David and Christopher, 13 great grandchildren; Mariah, Kimberly, Kaitlin, Ian, Tyler, Zachary, Elyna, Myah, Zoe, Ivy, Kane, Peyton and Sidney, plus several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lou was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law, Maureen Gagne, a sister, Geraldine Cable and two brothers, Leo Champagne and Francis “Buster” Watts. Francis was predeceased by his first wife, Connie Bushey Pelkey who passed away in 1974, his four sisters; Philomena Zabaska, Margaret Pelkey, Susanne Hamilton and Rose Marie Miller, a brother, Walter L. Pelkey, Jr. and together, Lou and Fran’s “Special Daughter”, Norma L. Reed.

A Mass of Christian Burial for both Lucille and Francis will be celebrated on Monday, October 19, 2015, at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street; St. Albans with interment following in Mount Calvary Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
