Leonard H. Stell, age 79 years, a longtime Swanton resident died Monday afternoon, October 12, 2015, at the Franklin County Rehab Center.

Born in St. Albans on, October 27, 1935, he was the son of the late Edward and Adeline (Dennis) Stell. He attended schools in Shelburne and on September 15, 1956, was married to Linda Jean “La La” LaGoy who predeceased him on January 13, 2011, following 55 years of marriage.

As a professional meat cutter and butcher, Leonard was associated for many years with Blouin’s and Prouty’s IGA, Swanton Packing and retired from Sunhill Foods. He was also a master woodworker making and gifting many birdhouses to family and friends. He enjoyed watching birds and was an avid Elvis Presley fan.

Leonard leaves his two sons and their wives, Leonard “Joey” and Kristine Stell and Michael and Sarah Stell all of Swanton; a daughter Crystal Lampman of Swanton; grandchildren, Ashley and (Gabriel) Snay, Emily Stell, Karissa Stell, Greg Stell, Mattison Lampman and Owen Smith; two brothers, Edward “Sonny” Stell and Harvey Stell both of St. Albans; two sisters, Shirley Bessette of Massachusetts and Cindy Stell of Montgomery; lifelong friends, Bob Sharpf and Lillian Claudette “Sissy” Gregory both of Minesville, NY, special cousins, Betty and Roland Benoit and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Linda, Leonard was predeceased by two infant children, Debbie and Paul Stell; two brothers, Paul and L. Kenneth Stell and two sisters, Gloria Stell, Betty Stell Greeno.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Stell family lot in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Father Austin will conduct a Vigil Service at 8:45 p.m. and remain after for The Sacrament of Reconciliation.
