Jeannine Clara Pigeon, age 81 years, died early Thursday afternoon, March 5, 2015, at her Middle Road residence with loving family at her side.

Born in Iberville, Quebec Canada on, April 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Alain and Aurelie (Benoit) Fontaine. She attended schools both in Canada and Sheldon, Vermont and on, December 2, 1950, was married to Paul Emile Pigeon who predeceased her on, June 12, 1985.

For many years Jeannine and her husband Paul owned and operated dairy farms in the Franklin County area. In earlier years she had also worked at H.P. Hood and Fonda Container. She was also a very devoted and active member of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary where she had served as vice-chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Board and member of the Social Action Committee. She also belonged to both the Nativity Ladies of Saint Anne and Altar Society and will be remembered for cooking and baking at various parish functions including First Communion, Confirmation, Silver Tea and many funeral receptions.

Jeannine leaves her four sons, Roger P. and his wife Cleone of Enosburgh, Michael R. of Swanton, Normand C. and Johane of Swanton and Steven R. and Mary Therese of Middletown Springs; 11 grandchildren, Craig, Cory, Kris, Michael, Michelle, Kirk, Paul, James, Rachel, Annie and Sophie; a brother John Claude Fontaine and his wife Connie of Highgate Center and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jeannine was predeceased by her parents and husband Paul; also by a grandson, Michael Pigeon in 1990, her sister, Helen Shannon and a brother, Maurice Fontaine.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Pigeon family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
