• Jeanne (Webster) Joslin

Jeanne (Webster) Joslin, 87, a lifelong resident of this area, died on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at home, with her two sons, Tom and Arnold, at her side.

Born in St Albans on September 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Henley and Dorothy (Conger) Webster.

On January 14, 1950, in Colchester, she married Guy Joslin, originally from Waitsfield, who died on October 28, 2002.

Jeanne was a 1946 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St Albans, and then worked for the George Soule maple company. Jeanne also assisted Guy in his work as a Dairy Herd Improvement Association supervisor. She spent most of her life in St Albans, except for her earliest years in Montreal, when her father was stationed there for the US Customs Service, and elementary school years in Georgia Center.

Survivors include her two sons, Arnold of St Albans, and Tom and wife Sarah (Smith) Joslin of Jericho, their son Ben of Brooklyn, New York, sister-in-law Lois Webster of Georgia Center, and Guy’s siblings, Eugene Joslin and Janet Perry, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters- and brothers-in-law.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanne was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Webster, on August 26, 2013, as well as Guy’s siblings Vercil Joslin, Lewis Joslin, Dorothy Livingston, Mark Joslin and Alberta Stafford.

Jeanne loved her home, family, gardens, sunsets, her independence, and feeding the birds. She was perhaps happiest playing big band music on her piano.

“You mustn’t tie me down with your tears, let’s be happy that we had so many years.

When I am gone, just release me, let me go, so I can move into my afterglow.

I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it is time I traveled on alone.

So grieve for me awhile, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted with trust.

It’s only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart.

And then when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and a ‘welcome home.’”

Mom, we will miss you fondly. Go fly with the angels and be with your man.

At Jeanne’s request there will be no visiting hours or memorial service. Assisting the Joslin family is the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com. An informal gathering of family and friends will be announced for warmer weather in 2016.
