Spotlight On ECHO Camps
Meeting the exhibitors of the Kids VT Camp & School Fair
ECHO Camps is one of dozens of camps and schools exhibiting at the 16th annual Kids VT Camp & School Fair on Saturday, February 2, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Burlington Hilton. At the fair, representatives from each exhibitor will present detailed information about upcoming offerings, and answer questions from parents and potential campers. Our “Spotlight” series gives you a sneak peek at the participating programs.
Who’s up for a game of Turtle Tag? How about an underwater search for Champ? School will be out, but science class will be decidedly in session at ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center this summer.
Located on the Burlington waterfront, ECHO’s weeklong day camps help foster a passion for the natural world. On any given day, kids in grades K through 6 may get a behind-the-scenes peek at the aquarium’s animal-care activities or launch a remotely operated underwater vehicle into the lake in the name of aquatic discovery.
The varied daily programs aim to strike just the right balance of education and exploration. That can mean dressing up for a stewardship-themed play, or heading down to the docks to meet a family of ducks. Whatever the activity, says camp director Nina Ridhibhinyo, “It is my goal that every camper has a transformative experience.”
ECHO Camps are open to children entering grades K through 6. They run from June 24 to August 16, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Aftercare is available until 5 p.m. Visit echovermont.org/camps for more information.
