Fans of hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar are likely familiar with Rapsody. The North Carolina-based MC was the sole guest rapper on Lamar’s universally lauded 2015 record, To Pimp a Butterfly. Beyond her dozens of contributions to other people’s projects, she’s released three studio albums of her own, including 2019’s Eve. Through a collection of tunes that name-check influential black women, including Michelle Obama, Serena Williams and Oprah Winfrey, the album lifts up a subset of humanity continually denied the reverence it deserves. Catch Rapsody on Tuesday, February 11, at Club Metronome in Burlington.
