RockFire [SIV359]

Published July 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

6/28/14: The Third Annual RockFire was held at historic Millstone Hill last weekend in Barre. A hundred years ago, this area was the site of 75 active granite quarries which employed thousands of men, many of them immigrants, and made Vermont the top granite producer in the country. RockFire is a two day event combining art installations, a variety of musical acts and a 2 mile long FireWalk lit by thousands of candles that illuminate the abandoned quarries. This event is a fundraiser for the Millstone Trails Association which has transformed the former industrial wasteland into 70 miles of recreational trails.

Music: St. Andrews Pipeband of Vermont, Bow Thayer and His Band, Revels Teens, Italian Village Dance, Pyrophone (Antoinette Jacobson's FireOrgan), Simon de Voil
