If you feel like taking in some hot, rhythmic postrock this weekend, you're in luck. Head to
Foam Brewers on Friday, September 30, to check out Burlington's Sad Turtle and their album-release show.
Their debut LP,
Ruthless and Toothless, drops the same day, and will be available for purchase at the show, as well as on
Bandcamp. Burlington surf-rockers
Barbacoa will open.
The band is composed of Justus Gaston on guitar, Jake Styles on bass, Mike Fried on keys, Jeremy Gartner on drums and no one at all on vocals. They play instrumental rock.
A quick scan of the album's track list reveals at least one thing about Sad Turtle: They love "Seinfeld." Nearly every track is named after a reference from the late, great television show, including "The Marble Rye," "Man Hands" and "Worlds Are Colliding (George Is Getting Upset)." If you go, consider bringing the guys a chocolate babka.
The show starts at 8 p.m. and entry is free.
