My friends and I enjoyed a great evening of beautifully presented food with quality customer service. I took advantage of the Prix Fix menu. My appetizer was the Poached Cod with clams, butters sauce and olive oil herb sauce. For my main course, I chose the Farro Risotto with apples, eggplant, pecans, goat cheese, cranberries, sauteed greens and eggplant sauce. And to finish, I chose the Maple Mascarpone Cheesecake with maple cream sauce, maple leaf cookie and candied walnuts. Oh my, what an amazing dinner. Great value, innovative taste combinations, and refined service. Fantastic!

Stopped in late on Friday for dinner to celebrate VT restaurant week. Planned to order off the Price Fixe menu with enticing options both local and exotic, but our server Dennis suggested Osso Bucco on special. I decided to give it a try. The Spanish Tortilla Appetizer turned to be a perfect Minnie omelet with savory red pepper, VT sausage and chopped potato - delicious. The main entree was tender fall off the bone tasty beef nested in lemony polenta, topped with a zesty gremolata, and a dark Demi Glacé reduction . My wife's fish & chips was light and airy, perfect crispy flavorful fish and a tasty Cole slaw! The Maple Cheesecake was OMG good. Service was professional, polite and attentive - thanks Dennis and Neil! Highly recommended, fresh and local with an international flare. Kudos to the the staff! Look forward to my next visit. Don't miss it.....

Had a great time last night as we stumbled in to NECI on Main, not entirely sure what to expect! We meant to come to dinner on Tuesday for their Earth Day prix fixe menu, but kids changed our schedule on that and so date night moved to Thursday. We had a delicious cocktail (mojito) down in the lounge with David who was delightful, but what really caught our eye was the salsa dancing lessons! They had only begun and, since it was only $5 for the hour instruction, we said 'what the heck' and kicked off our shoes. Juliana was a great instructor (and a NECI student!) and we stayed in the lounge for well over an hour before our stomachs forced us off the dance floor.
Having worked up a solid appetite, we ordered with gusto! The goat cheese gallette was INCREDIBLE, nice, light, warm, crispy...a great balance to the beef in the fried empanadas and the superb mole sauce. Initially, I thought I would just have a trusty burger, but I forged ahead once I saw the duck entree: marinated in ginger and jasmine with spring pea risotto and a delicious carrot sauce. If you love duck, this will not disappoint. My wife had the excellent corriander-rubbed mahi mahi....light, very well prepared, supersupersuper. We capped it off with the 'dessert sushi,' which was another great adventure, but I'll let you discover this treat for yourself.
In short, we had the best date night, not because we had expectations but because we let ourselves be surprised! The staff we all very attentive and accommodating without hovering, the food was excellent (full disclosure, we did have the mahi mahi sent back for a little extra time on the grill. Our server didn't bat an eyelash, simply solved the problem and when it came back freshly plated, it looked better than ever). We are coming back for it all and look forward to many more evening with these pleasant surprises!

These are students?
I always have great food at Main Street Grill. Their Sunday brunch is one of the best I've ever had...especially the creative cold food spread. They have fun musicians downstairs every week and the staff is very energetic. Great for any meal or occasion. Food: 4 Ambiance: 4 Service: 4

LUNCH AMAZING!
I do not pull my punches when it comes to this joint, but something BIG has changed! Went to LUNCH, and it was like a trip to Europe. Nothing like the dinners... everything tasted fantastic and was gorgeously plated with bright swirls of sauce. Seriously a different place altogether. It seems that the new Chef is starting to make some inroads, and there may be light at the end of the tunnel for Neci on Main. Lunch was 5 star in every way. It was so good that the next week we went back for dinner... but that was clearly controlled by the old guard and was disappointing in every (same old) way. But lunch--- WOW! Enjoyed a lovely midweek dinner for two. The price fixe farmer's dinner was very good. Flavorful carrot ravioli with pea stuffing, lightly dressed in sweet buttery suace. The lamb ribs were super tender very flavorful bedded in savory lentil and kale. My wife's turkey burger was perfectly done and the addition of a hint of tyme (?) really made the burger pop. Maybe the burger could have used one additional slice of cheddar. Once again Maple cheesecake with walnuts brought me to a standing ovation. Our server (Crocker) was, as always, super professional and knowledgable. We understand he is going to retire soon, a deserved soul - he will be missed. Thanks for another great meal NECI staff!

great food, tiny portions, high prices
We have dined at Neci on Main (formerlly Main Street Grill) over the years and generally the food has been very good, but sometimes erratic in quality. this time, the food was excellent; a vast improvement. The menu which used to have "something for everyone" has been reworked; fewer choices; and higher prices. that would be OK but the portion sizes were very small. My partner had a delicious scallop dish for his entree which had only two scallops!!! It was more like an appetizer by its size and cost $24.00. what's up with that??? My entree was more reasonably sized, but still very modest for the $22 it cost (chicken). "scanty" would be how I would describe their entrees which doesn't make me want to go back even though the food really was delicious and they certainly are doing a good job with it. Tapas Special Nights
NECI on Main has started Tapas and Wine/Beer special nights that are a savings and taste great. A craft beer or a red/white wine with a special tapas on Wednesdays are a good deal, as I am sure the same drink and 3 tapas is on Tuesdays. Also a paella & sangria night that we have not tried but looks great also Food: 4 Ambiance: 4 Service: 3
