CULT OF PARSONALITY

Ronald Reagan was president when Vermonters were introduced to the new face of WCAX-TV’s 6 p.m. newscast — Marselis Parsons. He started in 1967 as a reporter, and became host and news director in 1984. WCAX, a staple in Vermont households, is the only station that devotes an entire continuous hour each weeknight to local news, weather and sports. And this year, Seven Days readers deemed him number one. Not surprisingly, Parsons humbly shares the cred with his whole team, calling producers and reporters the “unsung heroes” of the newscast.
